WARNER MUSIC SOUTH AFRICA APPOINTS VUSI LEEUW TO LEAD URBAN A&R

Ambitious Plans To Expand Domestic Roster In The New Decade

Johannesburg, 13 January 2020: In a move to extend and grow its domestic roster, Warner Music South Africa has appointed Vusi Leeuw to the newly created position of A&R Manager: Urban. He will be based in Johannesburg and report to Tracy Fraser, WM South Africa’s Managing Director.

Leeuw joins Warner Music with years of experience in A&R and artist development.

He is credited with helping build the careers of many of South Africa’s greatest artists including HHP, Mandoza, Toya Delazy & TKZee, among others.

Vusi Leeuw says: “I’m really excited to join the Warner Music family. I believe there’s such a depth of talent in South Africa and I’m looking forward to contributing to the creation of the next generation of artists and the growth of the industry”.

Tracy Fraser adds: “We are thrilled that Vusi has joined our team. He has a vast and diverse experience in South African music, with a passion for artist development. I’m excited to see what he will do not only for our current artists, but for the growth of our domestic artist roster in this new decade.”

Vusi Leeuw has always loved music, from his days at College radio, to working at both multi-national music companies Sony Music and EMI, as well as independent label 999, running the renowned Downtown Music Hub studio, and setting up his own successful consulting firm. His list of achievements is long, but for him, it always comes back to artist development and the music.

Leeuw is a graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand, from which he holds a degree in Industrial Sociology.
