NIGHTMARE VACATION is available now via Atlantic Records/Sugar Trap at all DSPs and streaming services. The genre-defying album features 16 captivating tracks, each showcasing Rico’s out-of-this-world energy and rockstar delivery, complimented by production from the likes of CashMoneyAP, Buddah Bless, Dylan Brady (100 Gecs) and more. “I feel like this album proved to me that no matter what I’m going through, I can still make powerful music. All of these songs that I ever made were always about power, always about making you feel powerful. Sometimes you give so much power you feel powerless…I just tried to put all the emotions, and the happiness, and the crazy feelings y’all make me feel in this music and give it right back to you to consume and get your power up. So this is a soundtrack to getting back on your shit!” – Rico Nasty
NIGHTMARE VACATION has already drawn early acclaim via a number of international and domestic press looks, ranging from NME, WAVE and CRACK to Rolling Stone, The New York Times, W Mag and more. The album – which includes features from such luminaries as Trippie Redd and Aminé and production also by Take A Daytrip (Lil Nas X, Sheck Wes, Kid Cudi), Avedon (Roddy Ricch, Chloe x Halle), GRAMMY® Award-nominee Tay Keith (Travis Scott, BlocBoy JB, Drake) and longtime collaborator Kenny Beats – is highlighted by the singles, “IPHONE,” “Own It,” “Don’t Like Me (Feat. Don Toliver & Gucci Mane),” and “OHFR?,” all available now for streaming and download. To celebrate the release of NIGHTMARE VACATION, Rico has unveiled a brand new merch line, hand-picked by her; check it out HERE.
Produced by 100 gecs’ Dylan Brady “IPHONE” is joined by a surrealistic 3D companion video, streaming now at YouTube HERE. Hailed by The Washington Post as “stylish, cathartic and fun – enough to make you want to break everything around you while still looking fly,” “IPHONE” was followed by the EDM-flavored “IPHONE (Ookay Remix),” available now via all digital platforms HERE.
“Own It” arrived next, accompanied by an extravagant official video, directed by Philippa Price (Katy Perry, Miguel) and streaming now at YouTube HERE. Like its predecessor, the track was met by wide ranging applause from an array of high profile media outlets, with REVOLT raving, “Rico Nasty is arguably one of the few artists in hip hop truly pushing the boundaries of style as well as genre with every one of her releases.”
“Don’t Like Me (Feat. Don Toliver & Gucci Mane)” dropped in October, introducing new elements to Rico’s already groundbreaking sonic approach via inventive production by Buddah Bless (YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Megan Thee Stallion, Migos). “Don’t Like Me” “boasts an ebullient beat with soft synth plunks shimmering atop booming bass and crisp drums,” declared Rolling Stone. “Rico leads the way, teaming up with Toliver on the instantly memorable chorus, then peeling off a delightful verse (‘Ooh, roll one up just to keep me high/Ooh, don’t look down if you scared of heights’) before Gucci Mane takes over.”
“OHFR?” – which saw Rico teaming once again with producer Dylan Brady – arrived last month alongside an official companion video, directed by SpuddsMckenzie (Rich The Kid) and streaming now at YouTube HERE. NME hailed “OHFR?” as a “punk rock riot,” adding, “At only two minutes long, the monochrome video sees Nasty go through several costume changes, spitting her lyrics furiously toward the camera with an abundance of attitude.”
Rico – who recently embarked on a new partnership with the hugely popular NYC-based makeup and beauty brand, Il Makiage – further heralded NIGHTMARE VACATION with a series of virtual, handwritten journals, promising new sounds while sending love and positivity to her fans around the world.
NIGHMARE VACATION marks the apex of a remarkably productive year for Rico, including such tracks as “Popstar,” “Lightning,” and “Dirty,” the latter featured on INSECURE: THE ALBUM, Atlantic Records’ official musical companion to Issa Rae’s Peabody Award-winning HBO series, INSECURE. What’s more, Rico recently teamed with Kali Uschis for the genre-busting hit single, “Aquí Yo Mando,” joined by an equally colorful official video, directed by Phillipa Price and streaming now at YouTube HERE.
Indeed, Rico Nasty has been among the most prolific artists in recent memory, with a seemingly endless stream of standout singles like “Hard,” “Time Flies” (featured on EA’s hugely successful Madden NFL 20), and “Fashion Week,” the latter joined by an official video chronicling her own high profile appearances at 2019’s New York Fashion Week, streaming HERE. As if all that weren’t enough, Rico has contributed to an array of features and remixes, including an acclaimed “NastyMix” of the late Pop Smoke’s viral hit “Welcome To The Party” and 100 gecs’ hugely popular “ringtone (remix) [feat. Charli XCX, Rico Nasty, Kero Kero Bonito].”
NIGHMARE VACTION further follows last year’s release of ANGER MANAGEMENT, a collaborative project with longtime producer Kenny Beats which followed the duo’s work together on Rico’s breakthrough 2018 Atlantic Records/Sugar Trap label debut, NASTY.
