Friday’s are incredibly exciting here at the Warner Music South Africa office. New Music Fridays is a day when all new releases hit digital and physical stores around the world. Every week, we will showcase some of our exciting releases right here on our website as we help you get your weekend playlist sorted. These are what new releases you should check out this week:
Mac Miller – The Divine Feminine
Fans have been waiting for a new album from Mac Miller ever since he dropped GO:OD AM last year. Now, ahead of his upcoming South African tour, the rapper is back with his fourth studio album ‘The Divine Feminine’. The album includes the smash hit ‘Dang!’ as well as collaborations with Ariana Grande, CeeLo Green, Kendrick Lamar and Anderson Paak. If you don’t have tickets to watch Mac Miller at In The City and Rocking The Daisy, make sure you get them before it’s too late!
King 810 – La Petite Mort
Metal band King 810 drops their brand new album ‘La Petite Mort’ today. The album includes their brand new single “I Ain’t Goin Back Again” which has been met with positive response. The title itself is a reference to the duel themes of the records: the real-life violence and despair of Flint that builds the basis of David Gunn’s narrative and secondly, the steady desensitization and terminal closing down of the human spirit experienced when confronted with those real-life conditions. If you’re a rock fan, this is the album you should be checking out this week!
Led Zeppelin – The Complete BBC Sessions
If you’re a Led Zeppelin fan, do we have some good news for you! This week, we release the band’s complete BBC Sessions which the band worked on between 1969-1971. This includes nine unheard tracks as well as unheard versions of tracks such as “Communication Breakdown”. This is three hours of pure bliss and a must for any fan of the legendary rock group.
Matt Corby – Empires Attraction
Australian singer-songwriter Matt Corby has come a long was since finishing as the runner-up on the fifth season of Australian Idol. He released his debut album ‘Telluric’ earlier this year and has just released ‘Empires Attraction’ as the next single off the project. Much like many of the songs on the album, ‘Empires Attraction’ is an incredibly emotional track both in vocals and lyrics. This is one of our favourite releases this week.
