About Dr Bone:

Dr. Bone was born Bandile Maphalala in Bergville, a small town in the foothills of the Drakensberg in KwaZulu Natal. At the age of 12 he moved to Durban. He started his career in the entertainment industry as a dancer, a founding member of the group AmaRiffifi, a pantsula crew, who left a mark on the dance scene in the early 2000s and gave Bandile his name – his moves were so intricate and acrobatic, that it looked like he was breaking his bones on stage.  While dancing and touring the country, he was inspired by the reality of the ghetto and the rags to riches raps of Hiphop.  His early influences include 50 cent, Kanye West, Reflection Eternal, Umfaz’ Omnyama and Mtshengiseni Gcwensa.

Dr. Bone released his anticipated debut album Lindelani in April 2016 through Warner Music. “All we wanted to do was have fun and travel the world and learn about different sounds and cultures, but this journey led me to a door I never even knew I could open.” – Dr. Bone

Says Tracy Fraser, MD of Warner Music South Africa, “Dr Bone is such an exciting artist and we are thrilled to be working with him and Keke Mokoena Brands.  I have no doubt that 2016 will be Dr. Bone’s year.”

He started producing beats and working on his own rhymes and quickly made a name for himself throughout KZN.  Over the past year, he has been putting the finishing touches on his debut album with friend and producer, Nkocy Gasa and been travelling the world, playing to audiences across the African continent, as well as Europe and the USA.
